Unila FMIPA Biology and Applied Biology Students Conduct Practicums and Field Visits to Various Educational, Conservation and Industrial Institutions

Students of the Biology and Applied Biology Study Program, FMIPA, University of Lampung carried out 2026 Practicum/Field Visit activities on 5–9 April 2026. This activity is part of field experience-based learning to broaden academic horizons, improve practical skills, and strengthen students' understanding of the application of biological science in various fields.

In the activities This time, students visited a number of educational, research, conservation and industrial institutions in several areas on the island of Java. The series of visits began to Faculty of Science and Mathematics, Diponegoro University as a means of introducing the academic environment and developing scientific collaboration between universities.

Students also visited Food Crop and Horticulture Protection Center to study efforts to protect food and horticultural crops, control plant pest organisms, and the application of technology in the agricultural sector.

In addition, students gain educational experience through visits to Sangiran Early Man Museum which is a UNESCO world heritage site. This activity provides insight into human evolution, paleontology and the history of ancient life in Indonesia.

In the field of environmental conservation, students visited Klaten Aqua Biodiversity Park to study biodiversity management and environmental conservation based on biodiversity areas. The visit continued to Gembira Loka Zoo to explore aspects of animal conservation, modern zoo management, and environmental education.

Students also gained insight into the application of biology in the industrial world through a visit to PT Madubaru Madukismo. On this occasion, students studied the production process, processing of industrial products, as well as the application of biological and environmental-based technology in the food industry sector.

The activity closed with a visit to National Research and Innovation Agency to get to know various science and innovation research and development facilities in Indonesia. Students gain an overview of research opportunities, technological development, and the contribution of biological sciences in supporting national development.

Through these practicum activities and field visits, it is hoped that students will be able to integrate the theory obtained in lectures with real practice in the field, while increasing motivation to continue developing academic and professional competencies in the field of biology.
